‘Allied’ trailer released the same day as the Brangelina divorce

Paramount either has the best timing or the worst.

The entertainment behemoth unveiled the new trailer for the Brad Pitt-anchored World War II epic Allied on Tuesday — the same day that news of Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce broke.

Set in 1942, Allied stars Pitt as intelligence officer Max Vatan who bands together with French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard) during a mission behind enemy lines in North Africa. While abroad, the two pretend to be married in order to keep their operation under wraps. They later fall in love with Pitt’s Max asking Cotillard’s Marianne, “Come with me to London. Be my wife.”

To which she responds, “I love you with all my heart.”

Though the trailer seems to suggest that love may not be genuine, Cotillard and Pitt’s chemistry is, which makes the timing of the release all the more awkward or… strategic.
